The Sunshine State is supposed to be all about football, but some of the state's top basketball teams have a chance to make a splash in the NCAA Tournament.

Here's a look at where Florida's college teams stand as we inch closer to March Madness:

MIAMI

Record: 19-3, 10-0 in ACC

NCAA RPI ranking: No. 2

The Buzz: The Hurricanes have not lost since December, rattling off 11 consecutive wins. ESPN.com reports No. 3 Miami is the first ACC team to beat both North Carolina and Duke by at least 25 points during the same season since 1953. If the `Canes can sustain their current success, they are on track to earn an Atlantic Coast Conference title and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. While the football team has served two consecutive self imposed postseason bans, there has been no talk of similar self imposed sanctions against the basketball program.

FLORIDA

Record: 19-3, 9-1 in SEC

NCAA RPI ranking: No. 4

The Buzz: The Gators were the hottest team in the state until a stunning loss at unranked Arkansas. No. 7 Florida gets a quick opportunity to bounce back and reassert its dominance during a big showdown with SEC power No. 25 Kentucky. If UF's veterans known for playing smothering defense can maintain their lead in the SEC standings, the Sunshine State could easily produce two NCAA Tournament No. 1 seeds.

FSU

Record: 13-10, 5-5 in ACC

NCAA RPI ranking: No. 65

The Buzz: The defending Atlantic Coast Conference champions have stumbled through this season thanks to youth and inexperience. The team featuring newcomers in key roles has been erratic, swinging from blowout losses to thrilling buzzer beater wins. FSU has taken so many hits this season, the Seminoles likely need to win the ACC Tournament to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

UCF

Record: 17-6, 7-2 in Conference USA

NCAA RPI ranking: No. 88

The Buzz: The Knights are serving an NCAA postseason ban, so their record isn't worth analyzing, right? Wrong. UCF's goal was to win a regular-season Conference USA title, the only championship it could play for this season. That leaves the Knights, who are tied for second place in the C-USA standings, with even less room for error. UCF could get a big boost if it can notch the first win in school history at league leader Memphis Wednesday.

USF

Record: 17-6, 1-10 in Conference USA
